The Cooperativa Vinicola del Penedès was founded in 1964. Since then the number of its members has increased from 600 to 800. This makes Covides the biggest cooperative in Catalonia. No less important is that the company was awarded a distinction by King Juan Carlos for the example it had set. In the 1990’s it introduced a host of radical quality improvements. Covides produces cava and olive oil as well as wine, spread over various locations. The most important of these are in Sant Sadurni d'Anoia, the official wine capital of Penedès and Cava.
