Fine combination of classical Bordeaux grape varieties combined with almost a year of maturing on oak. A very powerful but ripened red wine that combines well with red meats and game with a complimenting sauce.

The slopes on the Helshoogte, a mountain pass between Stellenbosch and the Franschhoek valley, are especially well suited for viniculture for quality wines. The South-African climate is very suitable for viniculture. There is plenty of sunshine, no heavy industry more than enough slopes with excellent soil and the influence of the Atlantic and Indian Oceans supply a great balance between warm and cool. Jan van Riebeeck planted the first grapevines in South-Africa back in the 17^th century, so we can speak of a century old tradition. Apart from the fact that century old wineries take up an important amount of the production for their part, in the last couple of years many, mostly small, quality focused wineries. As an example we take the Dutch adventurer Sebastiaan Klaassen who acquired a few acres of vineyard on the Helshoogte only a few years ago, and who is already producing a delectable wine: Vuurberg.
